Is your child having trouble using emotive phrases in their writing?
Through our exciting workshop, your child will be able to master the art of describing sadness as an emotion with the help of our proprietary writing technique - WOWFATB.
As the icing on top of the cake, your child will learn the art of inferring the correct answers in the cloze passage using information from the text, thereby improving their thinking skills.
Stumped on how to craft better sentences? The workshop will teach your child to use Sentence Starters as a powerful technique to write sentences that are so fabulous that they will return for more.
Colourful Characterisation will be an added bonus to the wonderful repertoire of techniques in our workshop. This will make it easier for your child to describe the characters in their stories and let their imaginations run wild!
Finally, with the assistance of our fantastic teachers, your child will put everything they have learned into writing their own 4-paragraph story.

Writing is so much more than putting pen to paper.
Here at Writers’ Guild, we believe in equipping your child with all the right skills to help them discover their love for writing!
Did you know that expressing emotions creatively within a story can help to enhance one’s Language and Content marks? This holiday programme delves into the topic of generosity, and how to effectively express gratitude as an emotion – which can be applied to various types of stories.
We will also teach your child the distinction between Similes and Metaphors. In class, we will scaffold them with creative writing techniques and exciting games. Believe us when we say they will return home begging for more!
In the spirit of the season, we will also introduce Onomatopoeia.
We will closely guide them through the process of forming a word that sounds like the actual thing or person described. This will assist them in taking their writing to the next level!
To wrap this up, the order of adjectives is another important technique taught at Writers’ Guild! This is a critical technique that will assist the writer in creating vivid descriptions of the main characters in their stories.
As the workshop progresses, you will notice your child gaining confidence and curiosity about the wonderful world of writing as they craft their own pieces of writing! Detailed marking feedback will be given to each child to affirm their efforts and give targeted feedback on their areas of improvement.

This year, we would love to be a part of your Christmas celebrations.
Writing a great story is similar to putting up and decorating a Christmas tree.
How does one do that? By using exciting vocabulary and writing techniques to bring it to life!
Generosity is a frequently tested theme, but do students understand how to express gratitude as an emotion in their writing? In our workshop, we will introduce your child to a wide range of gratitude-related vocabulary words. Not only will they be able to apply this emotion in relation to the topic, but it is also applicable to various other topics as well!
Flashbacks have always been a popular choice for introductions among our students! To that end, we have created two new techniques – the Flashback Introduction and Flashforward Conclusion – to add to their arsenal of techniques. This will assist your child in crafting the perfect blast from the past while also bringing the story back to the present. This is one magical ability that your child will not want to miss!
Dialogue is a technique that is commonly taught in schools. Through our workshop, your child will be taught how to utilise this everyday technique creatively to enhance their stories and leave the reader in absolute awe!
Finally, after mastering all these critical techniques, your child will generate their own plotline and create their own one-of-a-kind composition. Detailed marking feedback will be provided so that your child can understand which aspects need to be improved. Bridging those gaps explicitly will undoubtedly help your child achieve the grade that he or she deserves.
